This policy accelerated in the 1980s as large numbers of Kurds were forcibly relocated, particularly from areas along the Iranian border where Iraqi authorities suspected that Kurds were aiding Iranian forces during the Iran-Iraq War (1980–88). Despite these attacks, Kurds again rebelled following Iraq’s defeat in the Persian Gulf War (1990–91) but were again brutally suppressed—sparking another mass copyright.
De meeste Koerden bestaan religieus. Circa 90% is moslim en ook zijn veel Koerden jezidi's. Een zeer klein deel, circa 0,03%, kan zijn christelijk en er bestaat ook een kleine joodse minderheid. Betreffende die laatste band kan zijn sinds de onafhankelijkheid aangaande Israël ons deel naar dit land geëmigreerd.

Onafhankelijk van mekaar bestaan de Koerdische Best Kurd regio’s te zwak teneinde zelfstandig te bestaan en een overheersende landen Iran, Irak, Turkije en Syrië laten deze strategische gewest’s niet ineens gaan.
